Hi. My name is balazs kiss ( also known as kissb on certain forums ), and this is my online gallery and website.
If you care about such facts I was born in hungary in 1980, but these days i live in denmark, and I love it. anyway...Like any other kid I loved to draw stormtroopers, dragons and zombies when I was like 10, but I didn't take drawing seriously before I met my art teacher, laszlo banhidy at high school.
although he most likely still considers me a failure because I went digital, I owe him big time, he was a great teacher, and I would be nowhere without him. I would also like to mention zalan kertai, a very talented artist who helped me even if I was a complete stranger to him back then.
my inspiration for the things I make usually comes from movies or books I like.
classic art also had a huge influence on me, my favourites are klimt, velazquez, rembrandt, arkhipov, vrubel, repin, sargent, benczur, kroyer, turner, bernini, menzel, michelangelo, alma tadema, bosch, vermeer, gerome, bouguereau, piloty, kramskoy, matejko, rockwell, and so on. one of my hobbies is to collect artbooks, so if you're from russia and know any decent book about arkhipov please drop me a line:)
of course I'm trying to keep an eye on illustrators and artists of this age, there are some really talented people out there, iain mccaig, h.r. giger, phil hale, craig mullins, paul dainton, bunch of great dudes at weta and ilm just to mention a few of my favourites.
i felt that it's about time to collect and present ( some of ) the stuff I've made the last few years, so here they are, I hope you will like them. or if they are not here yet, they will be, there's a few interesting stuff coming up, so feel free to come by again!
that dude below is me, my friend kristof szentgyorgyvary took the photo while we were hanging out in the van that moved the band negative approach around europe a few years ago.
